Bersatu postpone party polls to focus on state elections

SHAH ALAM - Bersatu Supreme Council unanimously agreed to postpone party polls at the division level to focus on the State Elections.

However, its secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said elections at the branch level will proceed.

“In order to face the elections in six states soon, the entire strength of the party machinery needs to be streamlined in those states to ensure we become a powerful force.

“Thus the Supreme Council has agreed elections at the division level and the council (except the branch level) will be postponed nor more than 18 months as stated in the Bersatu Constitution,” he said in a statement today.

The Opposition Leader also expressed his confidence in the party together with their coalition partners under Perikatan Nasional (PN) will win big in the state polls.

The Larut MP said they will try their best to win states that is under the current Unity Government; Selangor, Penang and Negeri Sembilan.

In other developments, Hamzah invited the public to PN’s Hari Raya open house on May 21 at Dewan Raja Muda Musa, Kompleks Belia dan Kebudayaan Negeri Selangor, Seksyen 7, Shah Alam from 8pm to 11pm.
