Give women the opportunity to hold the position of treasury chief secretary - Aiman Athirah

Meanwhile, the government is asked to give equal access to women in all employment sectors including being given the opportunity to hold high positions in the public sector such as the treasury chief secretary.

PH Women leader Aiman Athirah Sabu said the areas that need to be given priority to women are in capital, credit, technical assistance, training and social support in order to provide them with financial security.

"When we (women) achieve financial security in entrepreneurial activities, our children will be intelligent too," she said.

She said this while speaking at the Unity Women Convention in conjunction with the Unity Government National Convention at the Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre (WRCKL) on Sunday.

Aiman Athirah who is also the Women, Family and Community Development Deputy Minister added that when women succeed in achieving financial security, it will also create a civilised (Madani) society.

"We have seen, for example, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail who became a mother, a wife and at the same time, led the nation and the country, even consistently being an enabler of what we indulge in now which is a Unity Government where different political parties in the end managed to be fraternised," she said.
