Philippines Muslim Mindanao Consultative Council Inc. seeks support from Malaysia stakeholders

SHAH ALAM - The Philippines Muslim Mindanao Consultative Council Inc. is seeking support from Malaysian NGO's and local companies to help with their education and infrastructure in the Philippines.

Its president, Dr Zulfikar J Abantas, said this during his visit to the Karangkraf Complex earlier today to meet with Karangkraf’s chairman, Datuk Hussamuddin Yaacub, to discuss the matter.

"We need support and assistance from companies like your chairman. So what we need is support, and these are vital projects.

"For example, people oriented development projects. Anything that will benefit our Muslim and non-Muslim Filipinos. We promote the rule of inclusiveness.

"We need more infrastructure to support our adult education as well," he said.

Zulfikar, who is representing the Philippine Muslim Council, further added that the Muslim community is currently living peacefully under their newly-elected president, Ferdinand Marcos Jr., and is convinced that the leader is doing well in his administration.

"There are some issues, but there is always a solution. That is why you are the leader. That is your moral and legal responsibility.

"That is your political platform. You are there to help the people.

"We are not superman. Our president is good, and you have to take note of the many days and months, so give them time and a chance," he told Sinar Daily

He added that leaders are the ‘captain’ of the ship and are responsible for the well-being of the country.

"Our leaders, Prime Minister, President, we have to unite from the grass root level.

"Support our leaders, regardless of your political position. You have been chosen, elected by the majority, you are a policymaker; you are the new Prime Minister and a Member of Parliament.

"You are there to make laws to benefit your local constituents and community," he said.

Previously, the authorities in the Philippines have been working to establish an autonomous Muslim government on the southern island of Mindanao in 2022.

However, due to Covid-19 pandemic, it was postponed until 2025, and President Marcos has yet to act on the issue.
