Police probing alleged involvement of secret societies in bully case

Police have confirmed the arrest of five students from Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) here to facilitate in the investigation into a bullying case on last Friday.

Penang police chief Datuk Khaw Kok Chin said his department was also completing the investigation papers for the three cases before handing them over to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for further instructions.
"Regarding the bullying cases at a secondary school and lower secondary institution in Mara, arrests have been made and police bail granted, however, we are also investigating whether the case involves the secret society.
"If it is true, we will take action against the secret societies involved in the bullying cases in the schools," he said during a press conference at the Penang Police Headquarters here today.
He was asked to comment on three recent cases of bullying which had led to the arrest of 14 school students.
The three cases are being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for causing injury and Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting. -Bernama
