KOTA BHARU - Muafakat Nasional (MN) president Tan Sri Annuar Musa predicts Malays will continue to support Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the state elections.

He said the predictions were made based on his political experience of Malays who would not heed the decisions of conflicted leaders.

“Now, Malays cannot be pressured by leaders to support DAP.

“They will think whether it’s the right choice (to support DAP). Some said this is a strategy in a state of emergency to avoid more damage so that Umno will gain more seats.

“If they support Pas and PN, Umno could not get many seats.

‘That’s the narrative they made, my question is, since when are we in a state of emergency? We had a choice, but we (Umno) left Pas, Bersatu and we must accept that fact,” he said during a press conference in Kok Lanas here on Saturday.

He said Umno could make a U-turn and unite under Malay-Islamic politics.

He was confident that Malays would not let themselves be divided and ordered around by leaders.

Annuar invited Umno members to reject the party in the upcoming elections after it cooperated with DAP to form a unity government.

He said the actions made by MCA members in rejecting their party by not supporting BN in the elections could be seen as an example for Umno members.

“When Umno invited members to support DAP, we Malay-Muslims do not need to hesitate anymore (and this can be shown) by not providing support (for Umno).

“They can remain as Umno members. As how MCA members are, their strategy is to remain as members but reject the party (BN) in the elections,” he said.

He said Malay-Muslims have a party in line with their struggles, which is Pas, and they could aid them by providing their votes in the elections.
