Sabah can develop if there is no wastage, abuse of power, says Anwar

He said there needs to be a paradigm shift, especially in terms of governance to uplift Sabah as an advanced and prosperous state in the future.
"Looking at the will and sincerity of the leadership, Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor is here (Sabah Chief Minister), Premier Sarawak, Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg, I see that their approach is somewhat different.
"Seeing the need to move away from the old paradigm so that issues, especially in terms of governance, are well-managed, without wastage, misuse, or using wealth to enrich cronies, I believe Sabah can be saved, and the people's dignity can be uplifted," he said.
He said this at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) today.
Anwar said under his new government, there would be no fraud or attempts to rob government funds but instead it is solely for the development of the country.
"The new government's style of governance is not empty talk, there is no deceit, no corruption. (Instead) we serve the people," he said.
Commenting on the issue of roads in the state, Anwar also emphasised that the federal government always prioritises the matter to be resolved promptly.
"I had a lengthy discussion with Hajiji, including the issue of water, electricity supply, and the problem of potholed roads that feel like riding a boat, sometimes I'm not sure if it's a car or a boat.
"So, I have assigned the Deputy Prime Minister from Sarawak, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof to work together with the state government and take immediate action.
"I want this matter to be resolved starting this year," he said.
Prior to that, approximately 5,000 youths, consisting of UMS students, Kota Kinabalu Polytechnic, Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), and Youth Council, as well as the general public, attended the program.
