SHAH ALAM - PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar denies a media report stating that she will be contesting in the Penang state election.

She said she remained committed to her current responsibility as the co head of the secretariat of the advisory committee for the Finance Ministry headed by Petronas Advisor Tan Sri Mohd Hassan Marican.

"It is not true (the claims of her contesting in the Penang state election).

"I urge the media to be responsible in their reporting and not give credence to unsubstatiated claims," she said on Twitter, yesterday.

Her tweet was accompanied by a screenshot of the news portal report which stated that she would be contesting in the Penang state election with the hashtag #TakPastiJanganKongsi.

In the report, the news portal said Nurul Izzah would contest in the state election and would be entrusted with an important portfolio in the state administration if Pakatan Harapan (PH) remained in power.

It also stated that Nurul Izzah's involvement would increase the chances of the party to maintain its state seat in Penang and help gain votes from women in the constituency.
