SHAH ALAM - Jelutong MP RSN Rayer has lodged a police report against Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor over his statement that "Penang belongs to Kedah" said DAP Chairman Lim Guan Eng.

Lim said despite Sanusi's awareness of his unconstitutional statements, he was willing to make such provocative remarks for political purposes, aiming to instill fear among the people.

Lim urged 1.8 million Penangites to come forward and lodge a police report so that appropriate action is taken against Sanusi.

"Sanusi never raised the issue of Penang's sovereignty when Perikatan Nasional (PN) was the federal government.

"After the Unity Government came to power, he started making statements like this many times," Lim said in a statement today.

Lim further said that Sanusi should set an example as a leader by respecting the Federal Constitution.

"Sanusi's statement has hurt and insulted the people of Penang, people now feel insecure, threatened as if Penang will disappear and become extinct.

"This certainly also worries the investment that is coming in when the country is recovering after the pandemic," he said.
