SHAH ALAM - The Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) encourages Malaysian youths to continue their studies after finishing their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM).

"Education is the main thing that Malaysian youths need to prioritise," its Wangsa Maju Deputy Chairman Wymann Liew told Sinar Daily during his visit to the Karangkraf Complex here.

"If Malaysian youths don't want to continue studying, what will happen for the next 10 or 15 years?

"If the students say they want to become Tik Tok content creators, how long can they create content on Tik Tok?

"Even if it's hard, you still have to learn," Liew added.

Earlier, on May 24, some 180,680 SPM students from the 2021 school session chose not to further their education.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek (pic) said this was based on data from the eProfil Kerjaya Murid (ePKM) system, adding that the number comprised 48.74% of the intake.

Fadhlina added that 115,939 SPM school leavers in 2020 chose not to further their education, making up 35.16% of the intake.

The ministry is carrying out personal development and career education plans in schools to increase students’ awareness of the importance of education while also equipping them with knowledge, skills, and interest for future careers," she said.
