SHAH ALAM - "Umno loss, bro, let’s move on", says sacked Umno member Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein to former Umno youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin.

Khairy responded to Hishamuddin's Instagram post, which mentioned Umno will be 'wiped out' in state elections, with the comment: "PRN Umno bungkus".

The exchange comes after Umno President Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi and Umno secretary-general Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki allegedly made sarcastic statements, claiming to have invited sacked and suspended Umno members to join the upcoming 2023 Umno General Assembly (PAU).

Earlier, the Sembrong MP shared an Instagram post expressing his opinion that Zahid and Asyraf should refrain from making sarcastic and deliberate remarks.

"I'm certain that people miss the original Umno. This kind of behavior only reflects the current Umno leadership's mentality and thinking, which doesn't contribute directly to the party's efforts in winning the support of grassroots members to restore its position.

"Those of us who have been expelled haven't lost anything, as the party has already imposed the punishment and no longer requires our services.

"The real loser here is Umno, which is affected by such a cynical invitation," Hishamuddin wrote on his Instagram account.

The general assembly is scheduled to be held at the Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre (WTCKL) from June 7 to June 10.

On Jan 28, former Khairy and former Selangor Umno liaison committee chairman Tan Sri Noh Omar were sacked, while Hishammudin was suspended.

Among other members who have been suspended from the party for six years were former Umno deputy youth chief Shahril Hamdan, former Jempol MP Salim Mohd Sharif, and former Johor state exco Maulizan Bujang.
