Political Funding Act: Anwar fails to deliver promises - Wan Saiful
MOHAMAD AMREEL IMAN ABD MALEK
SHAH ALAM - Tasek Gelugor MP Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan alleges that the Unity Government deliberately delayed the enforcement of the Political Funding Act for bureaucratic reasons.
He said the irony was that the Act was one of the easiest bills to bring to the Dewan Rakyat because drafts and studies on it were already in place and underway.
Wan Saiful claimed that the matter indirectly sent a signal that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had forgotten the reform agenda he had brought.
"The government informed that time is needed to deal with all parties because now we have a new coalition but the party that forms the new coalition is an old party and negotiations have been carried out with all parties.
"Why is the formation of a new coalition by the old parties used as an 'excuse' to pass this act? Negotiations have already been carried out," he said in a post on Facebook on Tuesday.
Therefore, he urged all parties, especially non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to put more pressure on the government regarding the issue.
Wan Saiful explained, without constant pressure, Anwar would continue to forget about his promises.
