KUALA LUMPUR - The seat allocation between Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) in the unity government is nearing its finalisation.

BN chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced that discussions on the matter have concluded, and an official announcement will be made soon.

"We have reached the final stage of determining the seat allocation between BN and PH. The details will be announced shortly," he told a press conference at the 2023 Umno General Assembly (PAU) held at Kuala Lumpur World Trade Center (WTCKL) today.

The comment came in response to inquiries about the ongoing seat allocation developments involving both coalitions in the unity government.

On Thursday, Penang announced that the dissolution of the State Assembly would take place on June 28 in preparation for the state election.

During the 15th general election (GE15), six states did not dissolve their state assemblies, namely Kedah, Penang, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Kelantan, and Terengganu.

Consequently, state elections would be held separately if the assemblies are dissolved or allowed to complete their terms.

The dissolution has set the expected dates for the state elections in July or August, within 60 days of the dissolution.
