Names of 10 Umno 'warlords' joining PN to be announced soon

KUALA LUMPUR - Perikatan Nasional (PN) will announce the names of 10 Umno "warlords" who have been isolated to join the party in the coalition soon.

Its secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said the names would be revealed in an appropriate programme.

He said for now the PN leadership was finalising the matter.

"InsyaAllah, we are in the middle of making preparations and we will make an announcement soon," he told reporters at the Parliament lobby on Monday.

Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in a speech on Thursday wished good luck to some former party leaders who will join PN ahead of the state elections.

Bersatu information chief Datuk Razali Idris previously claimed that at least 10 warlords from Umno were expected to join PN ahead of the state elections.

Besides former Selangor Umno chairman Tan Sri Noh Omar, former health minister and former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin was among those who will join PN.

When asked about the update on Khairy's participation in PN, Hamzah explained that it was up to PN chairman who was also Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

"Let the discussion take place between the former Rembau MP and Muhyiddin," he said.

Asked whether Khairy might run as a PN candidate in the state election, Hamzah just smiled.
