KUALA TERENGGANU – Perikatan Nasional seats distribution across all six states in the upcoming state polls is 97 per cent complete.

Pas vice president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said the remaining seats would be finalised in the near future.

"After the final discussion on June 5, we have completed 97 per cent of the 245 seats (distribution). There are five or six seats yet to be completed. The election is not here yet, there is still time.

"I expect the remaining three per cent distribution to be completed before the dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly," he said.

He said this at a press conference after attending ESG Affairs 2023 and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Signing Ceremony between Terengganu Inc and TNB Genco for Asia's largest water solar development study project on Monday.

Meanwhile, when asked about the date for Terengganu state assembly dissolution, the Menteri Besar said that it must be approved by the Sultan of Terengganu Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin.

"Terengganu state assembly will be dissolved once I have an audience with His Majesty and received his approval.

"There is already a rough plan, but you have to follow the process. Let me inform His Majesty first. However, the last day that the state assembly will be automatically dissolved is on June 30," he said.

Commenting on the seat distribution process in Terengganu, Samsuri said 99 per cent had been completed.

"In Terengganu, seat distribution has been 99 per cent completed. There is only one seat yet to be done which is definitely not Rhu Rendang," he said.

In the meantime, he said the candidate selection process for the six-state election would be discussed starting Tuesday night.

Six states namely Selangor, Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah, Negeri Sembilan and Penang are expected to hold election simultaneously even though the date of each state assembly dissolution is different.

The state election is expected to take place in August after the states had decided to postpone their assembly dissolution in GE15 which took place last November.
