SHAH ALAM - Former Umno strongman Tan Sri Rahim Thamby Chik says the alliance between Malay party Umno and Chinese majority DAP will not last due to their differing ideologies and approaches.
Due to that, the Bersatu Information committee member said the collaboration between Umno and DAP is not a sustainable in the long run.
“This is because they have different ideologies. DAP with their commitment to equality in Malaysia and Malaysia is not the struggle of Umno.
“Umno has a different kind of approach because of that I think their friendship is not where it belongs,” he said this in Sinar Daily's Politically Frank.
Rahim said the leaders are making efforts to accommodate DAP in various ways.
However, he acknowledged that building trust and forging a united front after more than 60 years of ideological differences is no easy task.
“It is not easy you know.
He further said while the leadership may have granted approval for the collaboration between Umno and DAP, the presence of DAP within their cooperative framework with Umno remains a concern.
