State election: Selangor govt needs to be retained - PM

SHAH ALAM - The unity government in Selangor needs to be retained in the state election because of its performance and commitment in saving the state and the country.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said Selangor was one of the states that recorded the best progress in the country apart from Sarawak.

"I am really counting on you (civil servants) in Selangor. This is our fortress and Selangor is the fortress of the unity government.

"And why give support? Just to maintain the existing government? No, we support because we know, first of all, its performance. We are aware of its commitment to save the state and the country.

"So, I hope you understand the need for us to defend it (Selangor)," he said at the Prime Minister’s special mandate for Selangor civil servants at the Perak Jubilee Hall, Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Building, here, today.

He added that the support for the state government was also not because of sentiments or anything that has been given, but rather because Selangor recorded a lot of progress under the existing government.

"I have already explained that it is not for a sentimental reason, no. It is because we believe that this state is making progress apart from Sarawak which is the best. We must defend it," he said.
