Labourer pleads not guilty of raping, molesting three daughters

KUALA TERENGGANU - A laborer pleaded not guilty to seven charges of raping and molesting his three daughters between February 2022 and May of last year in a Sessions Court in Kuala Terengganu.

The 38-year-old accused made a confession after the charges against him were read before Judge Nooriah Osman.

According to the first charge, he had sex with his 12-year-old child at a house in Batu Rakit, Kuala Nerus at about 12pm to 1pm in March last year.

For the second charge, he committed the same act on the victim at about 11am at the same location and date.

For the third charge, he repeated the same act on the victim between 10 and 11am in December 2022 at the same location.

The father was accused of committing an offence under Section 377CA of the Penal Code which bears a prison sentence of no less than eight years and no longer than 30 years as well as canning.

The charged also faced allegations of raping his 13-year-old child between 2pm and 3pm at the same location between October and November last year.

He was also accused of repeating the same act towards the victim at around 2pm in May this year at the same location.

The man was charged under Section 376 (3) of the Penal Code which carries a prison sentence of up to 30 years and is subject to not less than 10 rounds of canning, if convicted.

Apart from that, the accused faced two more charges of sodomy under Section 377C of the Penal Code towards another of his nine-year-old child.

The act was allegedly committed between 10pm and 6am in February 2022 and at around 1pm last March at the same location.

As soon as the suspect's plea of not guilty was recorded, the court set July 12 as the date for the case remention and did not allow him to be released on bail.

The case was handled by Deputy Public Prosecutor Intan Nor Hilwani Mat Rifin while the defendant was not represented by a lawyer.

Meanwhile, in a separate proceeding, the accused faced a charge of beating his 30-year-old wife with a pan at a Magistrate's Court.

The act was allegedly carried out at their home in Batu Rakit, Kuala Nerus because his wife did not cook breakfast.

The accused was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code which carries a maximum prison sentence of one year or a fine of RM2,000 or both.

Magistrate Mazrinie Mahmud did not allow the accused to be released on bail and fixed July 12 for the case remention.
