SEREMBAN - Actor and director Dr Ahmad Idham Ahmad Nadzri has no intentions to follow in the footsteps of Datuk Seri Eizlan Yusof to join Pas.

Idham said he had respected Eizlan's decision to join Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) alongside him.

"Before Eizlan decided to join Pas, he did inform me and I respect his choice," Idham said in an interview with Sinar, today.

"However, I personally feel more comfortable working within the NGO movement. As I have mentioned before, my primary focus is to help the special needs children," he added.

The former Port Dickson GTA Parliamentary candidate in the 15th general election (GE15) denied the claims that Eizlan joined Pas with the intention of becoming a candidate.

He said that joining a political party should not be viewed as an individual's aspiration to become a candidate.

"I don't believe it is appropriate to suggest that Eizlan joined Pas solely for the purpose of becoming a candidate," he added.

"One of the reasons he shared with me was his admiration for Tan Sri Annuar Musa's efforts as the chairman of Muafakat Nasional (MN) and he expressed a desire to join the former Umno leader," he added.

Eizlan had previously said that his decision to join Pas was based on his confidence in the party's struggle.

“I joined Pas because I believe in the party’s struggle that is just not rhetoric and that this party is not what was said by others,” he said.

As the Selangor MN information chief, Eizlan said that Annuar extensive political experience spanning over 50 years had provided him with aspirations and inspiration to join and work together with the struggle.
