Selangor MB meets Sultan ahead of state polls

KLANG - Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari will have an audience with the Selangor Sultan, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah at Istana Alam Shah here, today.

Amirudin arrived about 5pm at the palace in his official Menteri Besar Toyota Camry vehicle escorted by police.

This comes as the Menteri Besar seeks the Sultan's nod to dissolve the state assembly.

Earlier today, Amirudin announced his intention to have an audience with the Selangor Sultan before His Majesty departs to Mecca. However, Amirudin said that he has not received a specific date for the meeting with His Majesty yet.

Sultan Sharafuddin and Tengku Permaisuri Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin are scheduled to leave for Saudi Arabia next week to perform the Haj.

The Selangor state assembly dissolution will pave the way for elections to be held.
