State polls: No discussion on MB candidate yet, current focus is to win - Aminuddin
REMBAU - There is no discussion as of yet on the Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar candidate should the Pakatan Harapan (PH) and BN coalition win the upcoming state election here.
State PH chairman Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, however, said the current priority is to make sure the coalition wins and retains the state.
"We have yet to discuss it because, at this point, what’s important is winning first. "However, I think in the name of unity, we must have a give and take spirit," he said in a press conference after launching the Madani Technical and Vocational Education Training (Tvet) Programme Carnival themed 'Let’s Choose a Skill' at the Pedas Industrial Training Institute on Friday.
He was commenting on whether discussions were held on whether the Menteri Besar post would be given to a PH or BN candidate should they win the polls.
The Negeri Sembilan Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) chairman said candidate lists from the coalition parties had already been sent to the Central Election Committee for evaluation.
However, he said the party was still open to receiving submissions for candidature as long as the final candidate list was not announced yet.
"At the state level, we are still open to anyone with the intention of offering themselves as a candidate, and it is up to the top party leadership to decide.
"The names received, whether through the State Leadership Council or through the branches, were all sent. Some directly sent their names to central leadership," he said.
Aminuddin also said he is not aware of the outcome of the meeting on seat allocation between PH and BN, which was held on Thursday.
"I was absent yesterday, and I have yet to receive the decision. Maybe you can ask those who attended.
"I saw no updates," he said.
Sinar previously reported that the division of seats between PH and BN for the six election states was still shrouded in silence, with leaders continuing to stay mum on the matter.
PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli said the discussion he chaired ran smoothly, but he refused to comment on the details.
