SHAH ALAM - Tebrau MP Jimmy Puah advises Kuantan MP Wan Razali Wan Nor to 'look down' if he is not happy with the nurses' uniform.

He said the Pas leader’s statement that the uniforms were tight is absurd.

"If you can’t accept it, don’t look at it.

"Patients who go to the hospital are only thinking about their health and welfare, no one in their right mind comes to the hospital to look at nurses’ uniforms," he said in a Facebook post on Thursday.

On Thursday, Wan Razali said during the Health White Paper debate session in Dewan Rakyat that the etiquette for nurses’ attire in most public health facilities in the country is not syariah-compliant.

He urged the government to review the dress code so the group could be given the option to wear something appropriate.

He added that the sacrifices and efforts contributed by nurses in saving lives and their service to the nation must be appreciated instead of being questioned about their clothing.

"We are aware that Malaysia is facing a severe shortage of nurses, which affects the overall efficiency of our country’s medical services.

"I urge him to apologise to the 115,000 nurses in the country after issuing the statement regarding their uniforms," he said.
