KUALA LUMPUR - Members of parliament should be allowed to debate and discuss the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) project scandal as it involves the people's money,

According to Arau MP Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim said the issue needs to be highlighted as it concerns billions of ringgit.

"The explanation for the issue cannot be ignored since the ordinary Malaysian is intelligent enough to evaluate each issue that develops," he told Sinar Daily

Shahidan added that the media should refrain from publishing specifics of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) procedures about the project in order not to interfere with the inquiry.

On June 12, the media reported that PAC had expressed their disappointment for the behaviour of witnesses called to testify in LCS-related matters who had revealed its inner proceedings to the media.

The PAC is dedicated to releasing the LCS Project Progress Report, which will cover the progress of LCS construction from October 2022 to last May and is believed will be released at the Third Meeting, Second Term, of the 15th Parliament 2023.
