'I love doing policy work more than handling politics' says Syed Saddiq
KUALA LUMPUR - Muar MP Syed Syaddiq Syed Abdul Rahman says that he is the worst when it comes to handling the internal politics of a party.
"To be honest, I'm the worst person when it comes to politics. However, to keep me relevant in politics, I need to move further.
"But what keeps me alive and relevant in the political world? I love doing policy work. I love presenting policies in Parliament.
"I love going to my constituency. That’s keeping me moving," said Saddiq during a two-hour talk at MPH at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) yesterday (June 16).
He, who is also the Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) president, further added that to tackle voters, he has been harping on grassroot support to join him and carry out activities.
"For example, we play futsal together, which enables me to interact with voters. The point I'm trying to make is that you can confirm the resistance," he said.
The talk titled "A Journey, Not a Destination," organised by TedxIIUM, shares the various unique perspectives of various remarkable individuals.
Besides Syed Saddiq, there were several other prominent speakers, including former Pahang menteri besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob, who is also an IIUM alumni.
Other speakers at the event were IIUM political science student entrepreneur and celebrity, Ayana Jihye Moon; department of Mechatronics Engineering KOE IIUM assistant professor, Dr Ahmad Jazlan Haja Mohideen; and department of Information Systems KICT IIUM assistant professor, Dr Nurul Nuha Abdul Molok.
