SHAH ALAM - The state elections that will be held in the six states will not affect the Unity Government, regardless of the outcome.

Deputy Finance Minister I Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said this is because the government under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's leadership received a two-thirds majority, equivalent to 148 seats out of the 222 seats in Parliament.

"The result (of the state election) will not change the big victory.

"The central government is very stable, and it is believed that there will be no drastic changes," he said on Twitter today.

On Saturday, the media reported that political stability was the main factor contributing to investor confidence, and if the ruling party's seats increased after the state election, it had the potential to stimulate investment in the local stock market.

TA Securities chief researcher Kaladher Govindan said the victory of the ruling party will be a clear sign that politics based on race has no place and is a threat to a multi-racial and modern country that took decades to build.
