KUALA LUMPUR - The Imam of Al-Aqsa Mosque, Sheikh Dr. Ekrima Sabri, has called on Muslims from around the world to unite and stand firm in resolving the Palestine issue.

He stated that the struggle for Palestine will continue, as it is a struggle to defend the faith and beliefs of the ummah, as well as for the existence of the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Palestine.

"As we know, the Israeli regime has taken various steps to destroy Jerusalem. These steps are harsh and aggressive, as they besiege the city by imposing military checkpoints and constructing illegal settlements, including preventing individuals from entering," he said.

"However, the people of Jerusalem remain steadfast in defending Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque, despite being oppressed by the Israeli regime with injustice and cruelty," he said in an exclusive interview with Bernama in Putrajaya recently.

He made these remarks during his visit to Malaysia to participate in the International Conference on Palestine, held in-person and virtually in Putrajaya from June 17 to18 June.

According to him, the people of Palestine despite enduring continuous suffering and hardship never griped and have resilience ingrained in them.

Regarding his visit to Malaysia, Sheikh Dr. Ekrima expressed gratitude and appreciation to the Malaysian government for their firm stance and continuous support for Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Palestinian struggle.

Earlier, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr. Mohd Na'im Mokhtar stated that Malaysia consistently advocates for every right of the Palestinian people based on justice, while opposing any form of violence and cruelty.
