KUBANG PASU - Kedah Umno has cautioned its members against falling for the Opposition's perception game on social media.

Kedah Umno chairman Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid stressed that the Opposition is using social media to create a misleading and negative narrative, aiming to confuse voters and undermine confidence in Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) ahead of the upcoming elections.

"I want to remind everyone that what happened in the previous general election was a result of a backward narrative and negative perceptions propagated by the opposition on social media," he stated on Wednesday.

He made these remarks during the Bukit Kayu Hitam State Assembly Election preparation held at the Kubang Pasu Umno Division Headquarters.

Mahdzir, who is also an Umno Supreme Council member, urged Umno members not to engage in unnecessary debates about the progress of the BN-PH coalition within the unity government.

"Now is the time for us to unite for victory in the election and strengthen the people's confidence and trust in the central government's unity.

"I appeal for absolute support from Umno members. My spirit alone as a leader is not enough; I need the support and cooperation of everyone," he said.

Mahdzir also pointed out that Kedah holds significant importance nationwide compared to other states such as Kelantan, Terengganu, Selangor, Penang, and Negeri Sembilan.

He highlighted that voters in Kedah are dynamic in their evaluation, making it crucial for Umno and BN to adopt the right strategies and methods to secure victory in the election.

"We are confident that we can win in Kedah because it is a strategic state where the people make informed decisions.

"Let us enter the elections with precision and accuracy to ensure our success," Mahdzir added.
