SHAH ALAM - The government is urged to discuss the measures to overcome the fall of ringgit crisis happening in the nation.

Umno Supreme Council member Isham Jalil said the ringgit had declined for a while, and if continued, it would negatively affect the prices of goods and food as most relied on imports.

"It is imperative that these measures be discussed immediately. Surely the government does not want the ringgit to continue falling without any action, right, Rafizi (Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli) ?" Isham questioned during a Facebook broadcast on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, the media reported that Rafizi stated the government would not engage in direct interventions to address concerns over the decline of the capital market and the ringgit.

Rafizi argued that the government believed its involvement in supporting the capital market and the ringgit would incur significant costs that should be allocated to the needs of the people and Malaysia's economic development.
