Sabah to decide on rental period limit for PPR houses next week - Hajiji

He said there was a reprimand by the National Audit Department on the matter, however, the state government is aware that there are PPR tenants who have rented the premises for more than 10 years and still need to stay at the PPR for various reasons, especially those who are less able. Therefore, this matter will be carefully discussed in the state Cabinet meeting next week.
"This is because those who are renting the PPRs are those who still need a place to stay. In principle, we will ensure that their fate is protected," said Hajiji in a statement today.
The media reported that the LPPB recently issued a notice to evict tenants who have stayed for over 10 years in several PPRs in Kota Kinabalu following a reprimand by the National Audit Department regarding non-compliance with the set rental period limit.
Meanwhile, Hajiji said the state government agreed to establish the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) Transit House (SMJ) to benefit students looking for work after graduation.
He said the proposal will be extended to the Local Government Development Ministry so that it can be established in the PPRs that are currently under construction.
"We have many PPRs that have not been completed, for example in Inanam. For a start, we will request the ministry provide 50 units, for example, out of 1,000 units to be reserved for these transit homes with a minimal fee," he added.
The provision of transit homes is one of the proposals submitted by the Sabah Students Consultative Council (MPPS) to the state government. - BERNAMA
