SEREMBAN - Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu hopes that the speculation surrounding former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin's potential party affiliation will cease.

He urged for attention to be directed towards addressing the rising cost of living and other matters that require immediate priority.

"I hope we don't think about a leader too much, but spend more time worrying about the people's rising cost of living and other things that need to be given priority.

"Political leaders come and go, we should all focus on safeguarding the people instead of thinking where someone wants to contest," he said in a press conference at Negeri Sembilan Perikatan Nasional (PN) office, here, today.

His comments were in response to inquiries about Khairy's status with Bersatu.

However, Faizal expressed his appreciation for leaders like Khairy, who prioritise the welfare of the people over personal positions.

"The most important thing is that Khairy is a prominent figure who does not see positions, contesting in elections or honorary titles as necessary.

"I see him as a leader willing to work hard for the people and the country in any capacity. That is much more important," he said.

Faizal also disclosed that he recently had a lengthy and meaningful discussion with Khairy, during which they deliberated on matters concerning the people.

"I was with him last night, and we engaged in a comprehensive and engaging discussion that, God willing, will yield the desired outcomes," Faizal said.

Previously, Khairy mentioned in his 'Keluar Sekejap' podcast that he had provided an answer to the invitation from Bersatu President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to join the party.

However, he did not explicitly reveal the response he gave to Muhyiddin.

Khairy mentioned that while he had a definitive stance, he would reconsider upon the request of the leader he admires.
