IPOH - A septuagenarian was found dead in a locked house at Taman Pinji Mewah, near Lahat, here on Monday.

The 77-year-old man was found lying down by firemen, who managed to open the door of the house he was living in.

It is learned the victim has been living alone since last Friday, when the wife left to visit their child residing in Johor.

Pasir Puteh Fire and Rescue Station chief Mohamad Fadzeli Che Husin said a distress call was received at 1.20pm about the victim, who has been living alone.

"Firemen managed to open the door with special equipment and enter the house.

"They found the victim in an unconscious state but declared him dead by medical officers who had arrived at the location.

"The victim was also handed over to the police for further action.

The operation ended at 1.50pm.
