GEORGETOWN - Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow will meet with Penang Governor Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak tomorrow to seek approval to dissolve the state assembly.

Speaking to media at his office in Komtar, here, today, Chow said is is expected to me Fuzi at 8am.

"During the meeting tomorrow (Tuesday), I will inform the Governor about the dissolution and for Tun to sign the declaration of dissolution the following day.

"After the meeting, I will hold a media conference at 2:30 p.m. to announce the dissolution," said Chow.

Chow had previously said that Penang would dissolve its state assembly on June 28 to hold state elections.

The six states that will hold the elections are Selangor, Penang, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu.

The Election Commission (EC) has also expressed their opinion that the polls in the six states should be held concurrently.

Penang has 40 state seats, and in the 2018 general election, the PH coalition won 37 seats when Bersatu was still a part of PH.

After Bersatu left the PH coalition and two PKR state assembly members were expelled from the party and subsequently joined Bersatu, the four seats, Seberang Jaya, Sungai Acheh, Teluk Bahang, and Bertam came under the control of Perikatan Nasional (PN).

Meanwhile, Chow, the PH Penang chairman said that the PH Penang and Barisan Nasional aim to win at least between 30 and 32 seats in the election.

In the 2008 polls, PH won 29 seats while in the 2013 polls, PH won 30 seats.

"If we can secure between 30 and 32 seats this time, it would be a satisfying outcome," said Chow.
