Selangor polls: Zafrul leaves candidate placement decision to Umno leadership
KUALA LUMPUR - Investment, Trade, and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz has delegated the decision on candidate placement for the Selangor state election entirely to the leadership of Umno.
The Kota Raja Umno division has expressed its desire for Zafrul to be nominated as a candidate for the Sungai Kandis state assembly seat in the election.
"I appreciate the aspirations expressed by the Kota Raja Umno machinery for me to be a candidate in the Selangor state election in one of the state seats in Kota Raja.
"As I have previously stated, I leave it to the grassroots leadership to determine the Umno candidate in the Selangor state election.
"The focus of Kota Raja Umno now is to streamline our efforts to contribute to the success of the party's supported candidates," Zafrul said.
Kota Raja Umno division deputy chief Abdul Raoh Mokhtar has expressed confidence in Zafrul as the party's candidate for the Sungai Kandis state seat.
