KLIA ‘corruption’: MACC to investigate Tiong's claims
PUTRAJAYA - The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will investigate the allegation made by Tourism, Arts, and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing regarding the existence of corruption issues at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said they would collect information from all parties and investigate the matter accordingly.
“Therefore, we urged the public not to speculate or sensationalise the matter,” he said in a statement today.
It was reported that a commotion broke out at KLIA when a minister had allegedly barged into the international arrivals hall to ‘rescue’ a Chinese tourist.
Tiong then came forward to ask who abused their authority in the incident, whether it was him or the immigration officer on duty.
He had since confirmed that he was the minister involved in the incident and said that he was grateful that his presence at KLIA exposed the corruption culture among officials at the country’s arrival gates.
