SHAH ALAM - Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing needs to lodge a report to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) if the allegation that a Malaysian Immigration Department officer at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) is involved in corruption is true.

Immigration Services Union of Peninsular Malaysia president Khairil Niza Khairuddin said Tiong's action issuing a statement on the matter can be considered baseless as there was no evidence and only aimed to divert attention from the main issue.

"As a minister, he should be more respectful of the country's law and not disturb civil servants carrying out their duties.

"In this case, the immigration officers on duty at the time definitely knew better about what happened and took action based on the current regulation enforced," he said, today.

Previously, it was reported that there was a commotion at the KLIA arrival hall when an individual trusted by the minister attempted to free a Chinese national who was detained by the Immigration Department on Thursday.

On Friday, Congress of Union of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs) pressident Datuk Adnan Mat urged the authorities and the government to carry out a detailed investigation into the issue which went viral.

Meanwhile, KPISM insisted that nobody should interfere in the duty of any enforcement agencies.

"In this matter, KPISM echoes Cuepacs president's recommendation that a detailed investigation be carried out by the government regarding the viral issue of a minister who allegedly caused a ruckus at the arrival hall at KLIA recently.
