SHAH ALAM - The police have confirmed that they are probing child-like sex dolls sale on an e-commerce platform after a social media user highlighted the listing, sparking widespread shock and concerns over ethical and legal implications of such products being available for sale.

Assistant Director of the Criminal Investigation Department's Sexual, Women, and Child Investigations Division (D11) Superintendent Wong Pooi Lin confirmed receiving a report on the incident.

“D11 has received the report.

“Currently, we are in the midst of getting more information', she told Sinar Daily.

Tweeter handle @masitah96 had gone viral recently claiming that her friend discovered that child-like sex dolls were being sold on Shopee.

"She came across sex toys, which is fine, but what’s not fine is that these sex toys have a child’s body," she said.

She also shared the links to the products that were sold by Shopee seller "sexymarina" with a price range of RM1,400 to RM1,500 each.

Social media users have expressed concern and alarm over the sale of sex dolls resembling children.

In the product review section, users have commented on the dolls' "quality of the item being as advertised" and the dolls being "very detailed on every part of the body."

Based on checks, the child-like sex dolls have been removed by the seller.

A Twitter user said the seller's account should be reported to Shopee, claiming that the platform was "enabling child rapists", raising concerns over the potential harm and ethical implications associated with the sale of child-like sex dolls on the e-commerce platform.

After the dolls went viral, Shopee said it had taken action by removing the controversial listings.

Shopee has responded on Twitter saying that they have permanently banned the associated seller account and highlighted that such content has no place on its platform.
