SHAH ALAM - Former minister Tan Sri Abdul Kadir Sheikh Fadzir has chosen not to engage with prominent businessman Datuk Seri Aliff Syukri Kamarzaman.

He has handed the matter over to his lawyer regarding the "threats" made by Aliff, who claimed that a well-known individual owed him millions of ringgit recently.

"I do not want to stoop down to their level. My lawyer is handling the situation," he stated, as reported by Malaysiakini.

Aliff expressed his disappointment on Instagram, alleging that a former MP from Kedah refused to repay his debt.

He mentioned that the person, who held the title of Tan Sri, sought his assistance in the past.

Aliff said he attempted to contact the individual multiple times but was unsuccessful.

"Does anyone know this Tan Sri? Tell him to repay the millions he owes me. He must be wealthy since he was a former minister.

"People in Langkawi would surely recognise him. If this post reaches his children or relatives, please don't suppress me," he wrote in an Instagram post on Sunday.

When questioned about his response or efforts to improve his reputation, Kadir gave a brief answer.

"I have no intention of commenting on such individuals. I will not mention any names," he reportedly said.

In a separate post on Monday, Aliff described himself as a small fish compared to higher-ranking individuals with Tan Sri titles and connections in high positions.

He stated that he must be courageous in asserting his rights, which were not substantial.

"I believe the Tan Sri is a famous and wealthy individual with numerous assets in Malaysia. Giving a few million ringgit is no issue for a Tan Sri; it is my right. It is strange that a Tan Sri would want to deny the rights of a small businessman.

"Imagine working day and night, livestreaming until you are ridiculed, and then someone easily takes away your rights.

"Do not push me to lose my temper and reveal all the recordings," he added.
