SHAH ALAM - "I have no intention to fight with the Malays, but my goal is to ensure the success and independence of the current generation, enabling them to excel globally," says Muda President Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.

In a recent statement, Syed Saddiq stressed that the new generation of Malays can demonstrate that success is attainable without excluding other ethnicities.

The Muar MP also highlighted his identification with the "Wawasan 2020" initiative, which he encountered during his formative years.

"During my school days, I vividly remember learning about and internalising the nine challenges outlined in 'Wawasan 2020' by the former Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad," he recalled.

Syed Saddiq underscored that the primary aspiration of this vision is to forge a united Malaysian nation, a concept championed by Dr Mahathir himself.

It was reported that Dr Mahathir criticised the idea of a multiracial country brought by Syed Saddiq.

According to the former Langkawi MP, it will indirectly negatively impact the Malay race's identity.

Commenting further, Syed Saddiq explained that harmonious community life can be achieved despite the diversity of race, religion and culture.

"In the end, our shared homeland, Malaysia, will unite us. I am aware of Tun's profound love for the Malay nation," he said.

"I firmly believe that the pride of being Malaysian does not diminish the love for the Malays and our historical heritage. I am devoted to our country, and I take great pride in being a Malaysian," he concluded.
