KOTA BHARU - The Kelantan government has announced it will offer free bus service for university students to vote on Aug 12.

Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob said the initiative aims to facilitate students residing outside Kelantan to cast votes.

The trip to Kelatan starts from Aug 6 to 11 while return trip is from Aug 13 to 15 led by Kelantan Treasury Office and the State Development Office.

Ahmad said university students participating in state polls are free to exercise their right to choose any candidate or political party without being constrained by any conditions.

"May the service help ease the burden of students and parents," he said.

He added that the Kelantan government is aware of the need for university students to fulfill their responsibility for the future of the nation.

"Their involvement as voters in elections has a huge impact on building the nation through the democratic stage.

"Therefore, their rights as voters cannot be denied just because of economic and pressure from cost of living," he said.
