SHAH ALAM - Barisan Nasional (BN) Selangor has denied the claim that three state legislative seats, considered 'overlapping,' will be surrendered to Pakatan Harapan (PH) for competition in the upcoming state election.

Selangor BN Chairman Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Omardin has confirmed that the allegation is untrue as the final decision will be made by the leadership of both coalitions and will be announced in the near future.

He further argued that no official results have been announced by any party yet, questioning the source of the reported information.

"There has been no official decision announced so far.

"Therefore, PH's claim regarding the three seats that were subject to negotiations between PH and BN in Selangor is not true.

"I urge all supporters of BN and PH to be patient and wait for the official announcement, and not to be influenced by rumors from unknown sources," he told Sinar Premium.

Megat Zukarnain made these comments in response to the contention over three seats that have become a point of contention between the two party coalitions.

According to sources, BN has now officially surrendered these seats to PH for competition in the Selangor state election.

Sources have revealed that the three seats in question are Dengkil, Meru, and Kuang.

Dengkil and Kuang seats are said to be a contest between Umno and PKR, while the state legislative seat in Dengkil is up for grabs between Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) and BN.

There is also speculation regarding the Selangor state legislative assembly seat, which is being discussed for exchange between PH and BN.

This involves the Sungai Kandis State Assembly seat, currently held by Mohd Zawawi Ahmad Mughni from PKR, potentially being contested by Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, the Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry from Umno-BN.

Meanwhile, Selangor PH Secretary Mohd Khairuddin Othman considers the three-seat contest between PH and BN to be surrendered to the Presidential Council of both coalitions for finalisation.

Mohd Khairuddin also added that he understands the full list of PH and BN candidates who will compete in the Selangor state election will be announced later by the highest leadership of the parties before the nomination day set for July 29.

Therefore, Mohd Khairuddin, who is also the incumbent Paya Jaras State Assembly member, said he would leave it to the PH leadership to announce the candidates who will compete in the three state assembly seats.

"The leadership of BN and PH has already negotiated and decided which party will compete in all state legislative assembly seats in Selangor and the other five states.

"However, the final decision on the number and which seats will be contested by BN and PH will only be announced a few days before the nomination day," he said.
