KOTA BHARU - A civil servant's home and vehicle in Kampung Guntong, Kok Lanas, were reportedly shot on Friday.

The incident at 11.59pm occurred on a bungalow lot, home to the man and his family members.

Kota Bharu district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Rosdi Daud said police received the call after a few shots were fired in the neighbourhood of the single-story bungalow.

"Early investigations at the scene found several gunshot markings at the home and the occupants’ vehicles.

"The case was investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code and Section 39 of the Arms Act 1960, where if found guilty, one could be sentenced to a prison sentence of not more than one year or a maximum fine of RM2,000 or both," he said in a statement on Saturday.

He said the police were taking the incident seriously and were implementing operations to track down the suspect.

Rosdi said the public with any information on the incident was asked to step forward and aid investigations by contacting 019-2454224, 09-7752200, or any nearby police stations.
