Dr M: I wanted to share ideas with prime ministers after me but no one approached

SHAH ALAM - The former prime minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said he was ready to share ideas with every subsequent prime ministers but he claimed that no one approached him.

Furthermore, he said one of his successors had wanted to approach him but did not do so after assuming the premiership.

“I remember when Abdullah (Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi) became the prime minister, he wanted to ask me. But he never asked.

“As for Najib (Datuk Seri Najib Razak), I told him that there is no need to give money but he said cash is king and he didn’t want to listen.

“Anwar (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) as for him, he has a story (untold),” Mahathir told the media after Talk about the Nation of My Past, Present and to Future, here, yesterday.

Dr Mahathir who is heading Malay Proclamation said that he was only able to contribute ideas and methods.

“I have 80 years of experience (in politics), so I can contribute ideas if anyone wants to know,” he said.

However, Dr Mahathir stressed that if the Malays want their fate to continue to be defended, the government should be changed in the next state election.

Following that, he urged the people not to elect a leader who does not know how to solve their economic, political and social problems.

“Choose a leader who can solve problems, not one who only gives speeches every day but no action is taken.

“Now this problem is faced by Malays and only Malays can solve it,” he said.
