SHAH ALAM - Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad turns 98 today.

He is the only premier in the country to hold the top post twice for 22 years from 1981 before resigning in 2003.

He holds the record as the world's oldest prime minister when he was re-elected as the prime minister in May 2018. He resigned in 2020 which saw the sudden collapse of elected Pakatan Harapan government.

Since then, Mahathir's political career took a dip when he lost his deposit while contesting the Langkawi parliamentary seat in 2022 polls.

Despite being criticised for his recent controversial 'Malay Proclamation' as a political stunt, he maintains that it is to unify the Malays.

“Today it’s your birthday, Sir. Alhamdulillah, still have time to wish you a 98th birthday. One age that not many would pass it.

“Thank you Tun for your struggle that has not been completed yet," he said in his Facebook post.

The former press secretary further said that he is confident that Malaysians will understand the struggle one day.

“Happy birthday sir. I will always walk along with you no matter where I am, I will remember you until the end of my life.

“I love you, sir,” he added.
