ALOR SETAR - Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has revealed that Pas offered to support Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir to remain as Menteri Besar in 2020, but the offer was rejected.

Sanusi said that Pas had placed a condition that Mukhriz would have to express support for the Prime Minister at the time, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

“Many people don’t know, I once ‘offered’ Mukhriz, I didn’t want to drop him as Menteri Besar at that time.

"I said, Datuk Seri (Mukhriz) I bring the Pas mandate, Datuk Seri support Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, all Pas seats will support Datuk Seri to remain Menteri Besar,” he said in the ‘Keluar Sekejap’ podcast hosted by Khairy Jamaluddin and Shahril Hamdan on Tuesday.

Sanusi, who is also the Central Pas Elections Director, said that Mukhriz did not give him any answers during the meeting held at Mukhriz’s residence.

“He (Mukhriz) didn’t give an answer, he usually doesn’t answer immediately. I waited two or three days and still no answer from Mukhriz. He seemed to disagree with my proposal, so what happened just happened,” he explained.

Sanusi said that he never intended to take over the position from Mukhriz to lead the state from May 2020.

“After the 14th general election, I happened to be the winner among the 15 assemblymen.
