SHAH ALAM - Healthy economic growth and a subdued inflation rate prove that the government succeeded in catalysing the country's economy in a better direction.

Even Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli explained that the economic growth of 5.6 per cent in the first quarter of 2023 compared to Indonesia (five percent), China (4.5 per cent) and Vietnam (3.3 per cent) is much better since the Unity Government's governance.

Thus, the PKR deputy president refuted claims of Perikatan Nasional (PN) which said the government has no economy direction and the country is collapsing.

"Our inflation rate also continues to ease, from four per cent in Nov 2022 to 2.8 per cent in May 2023.

"After the announcement by the People's Income Initiative (IPR) and the People's Facilities Initiative (IKR), as well as the Energy Transition Roadmap, which is currently being finalised, how can the Perikatan Nasional (PN) say that our economy has no direction?" he said via a tweet on Twitter today.

Meanwhile, Rafizi said his party is focusing on raising the people's wages through a progressive wage policy so that it can help the people deal with the cost of living.

He also admitted that the implementation of the progressive salary policy still faces challenges but is confident that it can become a reality.

"If we have good intentions to help the people with the right plan, we can implement it (progressive salary)," he said.
