SHAH ALAM - Angkatan Wanita Amanah Negara (Awan) is expected to contest at least five seats in the upcoming state polls.

Deputy Awan chief Anfaal Saari said that they have yet to finalise the number, but the wing will compete in three states.

"Of the five seats, three of them will be contested in Selangor while one in Kedah and one in Kelantan," she said during a podcast session with Sinar.

On July 11, it was reported that Amanah is expected to contest between 31 and 33 seats across the states in the election.

Commenting further, Anfaal revealed that the machinery is ready to face the six-state polls.

She said that the state election will involve numerous Awan members from states that are not contesting to help with the campaigning process, such as training candidates and field campaign units.

At the same time, she said that the machinery has started to approach young people using social media platforms such as TikTok.

"Now, we (Awan) cannot deny the importance of social media because it is a platform to channel information to society, especially the youth," she said.

"By using TikTok, we also provide special training to the machinery on producing good content for the public," she added.
