SHAH ALAM - Umno vice president Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin has agreed with Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's statement, in which the former prime minister claimed that corruption led to his defeat in the 15th general election (GE15).

Khaled, who previously served as the Higher Education Minister, concurred with Mahathir's assertion, particularly in relation to Perikatan Nasional (PN).

“PN was the party that defeated Tun, and we can agree with Tun M.

"It's unfortunate that Tun M lost due to corruption within PN,” he tweeted on Friday.

Khaled's reference to corruption stemmed from the Terengganu Election Court's ruling that dismissed the victory of Kuala Terengganu MP Datuk Ahmad Amzad, who represented Pas.

The petitioner, BN candidate Datuk Mohd Zubir Embong, successfully demonstrated that corruption had occurred to influence voters during GE15.

On Thursday, Mahathir claimed that he lost the Langkawi seat in GE15 due to corrupt practices.

The Malay Proclamation chairman suffered a significant defeat, losing his deposit by obtaining only 4,566 votes.
