TUMPAT - Religious Affairs Minister Senator Datuk Mohd Na'im Mokhtar has advised political parties to focus on policies that will benefit the people during the upcoming state election.

He said that the campaign should avoid issues of religion, royalty, and race (3R), which could be sensitive and divisive.

"It is important for every political party to promote their policies when campaigning.

"We should take an approach where even if we have different politics, whether it's the government or the Opposition, we want to ensure that the people live in peace," he told reporters after officiating Kelantan Al-Falah Carnival on Saturday.

Na'im also advised all parties to obey the order of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah to avoid division.

"We have to obey and comply with His Majesty's order.

"How can the people live in peace if they are divided?" he added.

In a related matter, Na'im also advised political leaders not to turn places of worship into political arenas.
