Muda-PSM: New political alliance to offer "non-toxic" politics

KUALA LUMPUR - The cooperation between the Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) and the Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) will provide a new option for voters in six states holding state elections on Aug 12.

PSM deputy chairman, S Arutchelvan, explained that the collaboration between the two parties is a good opportunity for his party.

Arutchelvan stated that PSM has long been seeking a political partnership with a similar direction.

"I hope we (PSM and Muda) bring forth a politics that is non-toxic, we bring forth a new and progressive politics.

"For those tired of protesting, don't protest, there is a party you can vote for this time," he said during a press conference announcing the collaboration between the two parties.

Muda secretary-general Amir Hariri Abd Hadi said that although PSM has often lost in general elections, the party has fought for the people's welfare.

"Some criticise our comrades in PSM, saying they didn't win, and so on.

"But in reality, many workers have been defended by our comrades in PSM, and many lands have been fought for and successfully given to urban settlers by our comrades in PSM.

"If we count the successes achieved, particularly by our comrades in PSM, there are countless achievements, even if we only compare them with election results," he said.

Amir Hariri explained that the collaboration between PSM and Muda is expected to bring benefits to both parties and continue after the state elections.

He also highlighted that the collaboration between the two parties is based on the Constitution and the Rukun Negara.

PSM and Muda have also agreed not to compete in the same state assembly seats. - AWANI
