Collaboration with Umno raises questions of racism, says MCA VP

SHAH ALAM - MCA vice-president Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker highlighted the issue of demonising Barisan Nasional (BN) as a racist party due to propaganda, particularly involving DAP and Umno.

He expressed concerns about the allegations of racism directed at Umno, which have also affected MCA and MIC.

Ti pointed out that the collaboration between DAP and Umno has led to DAP endorsing accusations that demonise Umno, raising questions about unity when aligning with a party deemed racist.

"While MCA, MIC, and Umno have consistently advocated for unity and harmony, DAP's recent actions and alliances have left their supporters dissatisfied," he told Sinar Daily yesterday.

He said that a significant portion of DAP's supporters may withdraw their support due to the association with Umno, which is seen as corrupt.

Ti urged DAP to address this issue and distance themselves from past polemical political rhetoric, as the 3R issues raised by Pas further radicalise their supporters.

"DAP needs to establish a clear distinction and regain the trust of their supporters," he added.

Ti also acknowledged that 30 per cent of DAP supporters still believe in the previous rhetoric.

"Therefore, it is vital for DAP to distance themselves from such politics and radicalisation, as failure to do so could result in a loss of support even from Umno supporters," he added.
