ALOR SETAR - Kedah Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor is confident that the people will not be easily influenced by fake propaganda that was purportedly launched by his political opponents.

Sanusi, also the caretaker Kedah Chief Minister, claimed that similar propaganda and lies are purposely being made up to discredit PN.

However, the support and cooperation shown by the people have given him the strength to continue defending Kedah and ensure that PN wins the six states in the Aug 12 state elections.

"Their efforts (to discredit me) in the past few days have been very persistent, including by making things up that I don't even know are under the Home Ministry, under immigration.

"Suddenly, everyone in the ministry is questioning and demanding answers from me. How would I know? It is their responsibility; how can I answer something that I don't know?" he said when addressing his supporters in Sri Mentaloon on Tuesday evening.

It is learned that Sanusi was referring to a statement by Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, who questioned the identity of the Chinese national who was detained in relation to the theft of rare earth minerals (REE) at Hutan Simpan Bukit Enggang, Sik.

Earlier, over 1,000 supporters gathered at the Sultan Abdul Halim International Airport to welcome Muhammad Sanusi after he was charged at the Selayang Sessions Court on Tuesday.

The lawmaker urged his supporters to take care of their health so that they could go out to vote.
